Artificial intelligence (AI) is a hot topic in the communication field. AI refers to systems or machines that mimic human intelligence to perform tasks and can improve themselves based on the information they collect (Sahin, 2022).

AI can do that?

Many have concerns about this technology and its impact on writers and other artists. Recently, Business Insider reported that many media jobs like advertising, content creation, technical writing, graphic design, and journalism could be affected by ChatGPT and similar forms of AI (Zincula & Mok, 2024).

Why even consider AI?

AI tools “may actually help workers in ‘creative’ industries like art and graphic design produce higher quality work”, according to an Oxford University economist (Zincula & Mok, 2024).

Game theory can be used to describe, predict and explain human behavior. AI uses game theory to model human behavior by using data analysis to predict actions (Hazra & Anjaria, 2022). This is machine learning.

Media specialists are not the only group affected by the trends of AI. Medical professionals are also adjusting to these new technologies. They can use AI to predict health issues and design medicines. For all of us affected by AI, which is all of us, learning how to incorporate these machines and their peculiar learning into our professional lives is the next challenge. We will need to consider how to approach this human-machine interaction.
